Summer Camp 2008  |
University of International Relations, Beijing (UIR, Beijing) has a history of 50 years of Mandarin study. UIR trains professionals of international relations; it has academic trainings for bachelor, master and doctorate degrees. The Institute attaches great importance to establishing corporate relationships with universities overseas. It combines language learning relevant to subjects that you can study abroad.
The Center for International Education is located in the Beijing university area. It is one of the earliest institutions that accept students from abroad into China. In recent years, Center for International Education welcomes an increasing number of international students from around the world to study Chinese language and culture in the Beijing summer camp. |

Aims and Features: |

More than gaining knowledge and broadening mind, all sections of this Beijing summer camp program are to start an interaction-oriented mandarin learning experience abroad.
1) Morning language classesto build a good foundation of Mandarin Chinese phonetic systems(pinyin) and Chinese character structures.
2) Afternoon electives designed to provide different perspectives of Chinese culture including TaiQi Quan, Chinese calligraphy and painting, Chinese cooking and more.
3) Weekend cultural activities leading students to experience China's cultural heritage, the Chinese life-style and many chances to meet new friends abroad.
4) Immersion programs encourage students to apply their acquired language skills (speaking, listening, and writing) in real life. To name a few, they will practice how to negotiate in the market with the knowledge learned in their Mandarin language classes, cook their own Chinese food with what they get from the market, present performances featuring Chinese culture and record their experience in China by writing letters to friends or parents |

| Arrangement |

Language skills training: Besides Chinese language core classes, language training on real conversational situation will be given.
Afternoon electives: Taiji Quan, Chinese cooking, Chinese calligraphy and painting, and Chinese songs.
Weekend cultural activities: Weekend tours include the Great Wall, Tian'an Men Square and the Forbidden City, Summer Palace, and Temple of Heaven and Beijing's famous markets. Other activities include sports games, cooking contest and performances by students at the end of the summer camp. |

Everything that the students need during their stay in Beijing is included in the program fees which includes: visa support documents, insurance, airport pickup and drop-off, accommodation, three meals per day, Chinese classes, afternoon electives, domestic transportation and entrance tickets, and supervision. |
